Appliance Repair Tips for Our Valued Clients

Washers: Replace the rubber water supply hoses that connect to the water supply at least every five years. Check them periodically for cracking, splitting, or stiffness. If you see evidence of this, replace them sooner. When replacing the hoses, use a turn or two of Teflon tape on the threads of the hot and cold spigot and the back of the washer as well. This will make removal much easier down the line.Appliance_Repair_Sidebar_DidYouKnow

If you accidentally use too much soap in your high-efficiency washer and the washer starts to overflow with suds, stop the cycle and remove the load. Add some fabric softener and run the wash cycle until the end. This will remove the suds.

Dryers: Use aluminum ducting rather than plastic to vent your dryer. Metal is more efficient and greatly reduces the risk of fire.

Dishwashers: To keep mineral deposits from accumulating inside, occasionally place a one cup container filled with distilled white vinegar on the top and bottom rack before running the wash cycle. As the cycle runs, soap and mineral deposits will start to dissolve.

Ovens: Self-cleaning ovens will discolor the racks if they are left inside during a cleaning cycle. Remove them prior to self-cleaning to prevent this.

Garbage Disposals: To keep odor down in a garbage disposal, discard squeezed lemons or limes into the drain while the unit is running. Always remember to start the water before starting the disposal and turn the water off after the disposal has been shut off.

Refrigerators: If your ice maker is performing poorly, it could be the result of a clogged water line or a defective inlet valve. These need to be serviced by an experienced appliance repair technician.

Microwaves: Prefer to keep yourself from cleaning your microwave? A painless way out is to just cover your dishes and keep your unit splatter-free. One more helpful tip is to use a paper towel when a more loose-fitting cover is needed.
